'Frozen 2' Release Date, Plot News: Jonathan Groff Reveals Details To Sequel
Production for Disney's "Frozen 2" is underway. The talents have been at the recording booth since September and Jonathan Groff, who voices Kristoff, shares some more details to the sequel.
Groff recently visited the British talk show "Lorraine" to promote his Netflix crime series "Mindhunter." He also briefly talked about the Disney animated film.
"I actually just started recording 'Frozen 2' last month," Groff said. "I think it's going to be released in November 2019. It'll be here before you know it."
The actor, however, did not reveal what "Frozen 2" will focus on. He, however, remembers reading the script from the first movie and loving its unexpected ending.
"Frozen," which came out in 2013, was about the love between two sisters. It veered off from the typical Disney love story between a man and a woman.
"I had no idea it was going to be this big," Groff further said. "I don't think anyone working on it had any idea how successful it would be."
"Frozen" remains a popular favorite among children and Disney fans and there's a lot of expectations from the sequel. Fans are already thrilled that Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are again lending their voices to Anna and Elsa, while Josh Gad is also back for Olaf.
The actor shared proof that he's been recording for "Frozen 2" as well. He posted a photo on Twitter and cited that the sequel's story is "worth the wait." Missing from the recording, however, is Santino Fontana, who voices the villain Hans. It's still not clear if his character will be in "Frozen 2."
"Frozen" earned over $1.2 billion at the global box office. The movie also took home the Oscars for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature.
Disney scheduled the sequel for a Nov. 27, 2019, release in theaters but fans have plenty of options to watch "Frozen" in some other form while waiting for the second feature film. Spinoffs to "Frozen" are available in home media and the short film "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" will also be released along with Disney and Pixar's new animated flick "Coco" this Nov. 22.
