'Fuller House' Cuts Ties With the Olsen Twins for Good Following Season 3 Release on Netflix

The creator of "Full House" and "Fuller House" is done with the Olsen twins. Jeff Franklin no longer hopes he will be able to convince Mary-Kate and Ashley to reprise their role as Michelle Tanner in the series.

Having Michelle back was a paramount goal since the show's revival on Netflix considering everyone from the original cast signed on, but in three seasons of "Fuller House," not even the shadow of the youngest Tanner child appeared on the set.

"Personally, I've given up asking them," Franklin told TV Line after numerous rejections from the twins. "I'm not going to be calling them anymore to invite them. They just don't seem interested in coming."

Mary-Kate and Ashley were mere babies when they alternately played Michelle on "Full House" in 1987. Viewers saw them growing up until the show bowed out in 1995.

The Olsen twins went on to become successful young stars and did several family-themed movies in their early teens. After that, the Olsen twins shifted focus to fashion and marketing and never looked back at acting again.

"Full House" star John Stamos tried convincing Mary Kate and Ashley to guest star in the spinoff when revival plans first surfaced but he also got a rejection. Stamos played the girls' Uncle Joey on the show and he's also the producer of "Fuller House."

"They hadn't acted — they don't consider themselves actresses," Stamos told E! News in 2016. "I said, 'Maybe you guys will just be here in New York and we'll do a phone call or something.' And they said, 'Let us think about it.'"

"Fuller House" dealt with Michelle's absence by saying she's too busy running her fashion house in New York. In real life, the 31-year-old Olsen twins do have a multi-billion fashion empire, The Row, and the clothing label Elizabeth & James.

Meanwhile, "Fuller House" launched season 3 on Netflix last Sept. 22 with nine episodes. The second half of the season will arrive on the streaming platform in early 2018.
