Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Speed Test

BGR reports that Apple's iPhone 6s beat the Galaxy Note 7 in a speed test. However, the slowness isn't exactly news because the Galaxy Note 7 apparently uses the same hardware specs as the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge - and these phones aren't exactly fast either.

For the actual speed test, PhoneBuff tested the Galaxy Note 7 and iPhone 6s by opening a sequence of apps on both phones in a specific order, and then opening them back again from the memory. In the video, it looked like the iPhone 6s was able to manage to breeze through it with no problems, unlike the Galaxy Note 7. The Galaxy Note 7, iPhone 6s speed test video can be found at the bottom of this article.

Why is the Galaxy Note 7 Slow?

The Galaxy Note 7 is supposedly made with premium specs which makes it certainly not that slow. It only seemed to be because it was compared to the iPhone 6s. There might be a reason behind this and that may be because the Galaxy Note 7 isn't running on the latest Android operating system (OS) update, according to the outlet. The Android 7.0 Nougat or Android N is scheduled to be released sometime next month, but there is no concrete date and may be subjected to change in the future.

Yahoo points out that one of the reasons Galaxy Note 7 could be slowing down may be because of its built-in storage. While Galaxy Note 7 is known for having extendable storage via microSD, installing one may be the culprit behind it. The vast amount of storage it can hold may be the reason why it is taking the Galaxy Note 7 longer, given that the microSD can hold up to 320GB of total disk space. Furthermore, microSD reading and writing speeds may have something to do with it too.

Watch the Galaxy Note 7 and iPhone 6s speed test below. It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has the Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB RAM, 2560x1440 display and Android 6.0.1 software. Meanwhile, the Apple iPhone 6s runs on Apple A9, has 2GB RAM, screen resolution of 1334x750 and iOS 9.3.4.
