Global sales of Samsung's Tab and Apple's iPad devices have been dropping because of the increasing popularity of the large-screen phablets such as the iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 5, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Because smartphones nowadays offer almost the same features as that of a tablet, users find phablets handier, the report explains.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPad Pro soon, and this device will reportedly sport a 12.9-inch display. Samsung wishes to do the same to fight its declining tablet sales with the release of the Galaxy View.

Based on the information Samsung provided during the IFA, the Galaxy View will boast of an 18.4-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. However, the display will not be using the AMOLED technology, unlike most of Samsung's new devices.

The Galaxy View will run on Samsung's own Exynos 7580 processor with 2 GB of RAM. In addition, it will have 32 GB of internal storage that may be expandable up to 128 GB using microSD card slot.

The new massive Samsung tablet, which will run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, will be powered by a 5,700 mAh battery, but it may also run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow at the time of its launch. Samsung said the Galaxy View will also come with an integrated stand to allow users to take advantage of the device's large screen and use it as a monitor, the report adds.

Samsung Galaxy View will be launched in October this year. However, the South Korean gadget maker has yet to announce the large tablet's availability and price.
