'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Cast News: Actress Essie Davis Joins New Season as a Theatre Troupe Member
New casting report arrived over the weekend pointing to the Australian actress Essie Davis as the latest name to be added in the roster of cast members in the upcoming sixth season of HBO's hit fantasy drama series, "Game of Thrones." Meanwhile, behind the scenes footage revealing a theatre setup surfaced.
According to the report from Independent UK, the "The Matrix" star will play one of the members of a travelling theatre troupe in Braavos. Coming along with the company is a satirical play piece titled "The Bloody Hand" which, as the media outlet said, "pokes fun at the world of Westeros." The Tasmanian-born actress' character is said to "mock the debauchery of Lena Headey's Queen Cersei," which is expected to anger the royalty.
Davis is joining the list of known actors heading towards the George R.R. Martin novel-based drama. The names include Richard E. Grant, Freddie Stroma, Ian McShane, Pilou Asbaek and Max van Sydow.
In connection to the theatre gig, a recent WatchersOnTheWall.com report tackles a video footage taken during the show's filming in Girona, Spain.
As revealed by the website, the scenes involved a theatre stage being erected at the Placa dels Jurats. Actors portraying members of the performance company were also spotted around the area. They were seen sporting the theatrical versions of renowned Westeros characters such as the aforementioned Cersei, Robert Baratheon, Ned, and a lot more others.
Citing a source, WoTW said that the troupe would be sticking around for three episodes in Season 6 and that there's a possibility that Maisie Williams' Arya Stark will join the troupe. The character started off as an observer.
Additional leaks were also pointed out by the website, this time indicating the arrival of John Bradley and Hannah Murray who plays Samwell Tarly and Gilly respectively. Their presence in the Braavos-in-Girona scene is yet to be disclosed.
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 premieres 2016 on HBO.
