'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Plot Spoilers: George R.R. Martin Warns of 'Shock Deaths,' Lena Headey Announces Pregnancy

"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin announced last Saturday that the show's Season 5 will have what he called "shock deaths."

Speaking at the Writers Guild West Awards, as reported in The Independent, Martin said that fans should brace themselves as there will be four deaths in the new season. He also said that even fans of the novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire," where "The Game of Thrones" storyline is based on, will be surprised because "people are going to die who don't die in the books so even the book readers will be unhappy."

According to the report, Martin had previously said on Conan last year that the following characters will meet their deaths in the next season: Irri, Daenerys' handmaiden, Joyeuse Erenford, wife of Walder Frey and Qarth merchant Xaro Xhoan Daxos. But given this recent pronouncement, the report said anything can happen. He also said that the show's co-producers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss "are bloodier than I am."

This much was confirmed by another cast member, Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark. She told The Huffington Post that "There's some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing." The Red Wedding is considered "the most brutal moment" of the show where several major characters were slaughtered at a wedding feast, including "the horrific murder of a heavily pregnant woman."

Martin also confirmed that he is currently working on two more books in the series called "The Winds of Winter" and "The Dream of Spring." These books will be 1,500 pages long and will give Benioff and Weiss a lot of material to choose from for the next seasons.

In a separate news report on E! Online, actress Lena Headey who plays Cersei Lannister, a major character in the show, shared last Sunday that she was having her second child. The report also says that it's not yet clear whether this piece of news will affect her character's storyline.
