'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Spoilers: Lena Headey Explains 'Stoneheart' Reference, Hints at Next Season
"Game of Thrones" season four just came to a shocking close on HBO this week, but actress Lena Headey is already hinting at what is in store for next season.
Headey, who portrays the malevolent Queen Cersei Lannister on "GOT," admitted that she has read the books by George R. R. Martin in which the HBO series is based. Furthermore, Headey addressed her posts to social media which hint strongly to the fate of "GOT" characters, including the deceased Catelyn Stark.
On Monday, Headey appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" casually clad in t-shirt reading "I'm Not Sorry" where she discussed her "GOT" character. Furthermore, the actress offered an unapologetic explanation her Instagram posts which heavily hinted at season four as well as the future for the television series.
In April, three months before the "GOT" episode entitled "The Mountain vs. the Viper" aired on HBO, Headey shared a photo with co-star Pedro Pascal featuring her thumbs over his eyes. Fans later realized that the actress was eluding to Pascal's character Oberyn Martell's doomed fate, which was revealed in "The Mountain vs. the Viper."
When asked about the post featuring Pascal, Headey admitted to Kimmel that she did not receive clearance to share the photo on Instagram. The actress then answered if her fans were angry about the telling photo.
"They haven't said so," Headey said, laughingly. "Maybe I'll die this year."
In another indicative Instagram post, Headey shared a photo of stones in the shape of a heart along with the caption, "my stone heart." The post directly references Lady Stoneheart who, in the "GOT" books, is the reincarnated version of Catelyn Stark. The clue leads many "GOT" fans to think that Stoneheart/Stark may emerge in season five, marking the return of actress Michelle Fairley.
However, Headey said that the photo was innocent of any double meaning.
"No, that was me drunk in Palm Springs going, 'This is so pretty,'" she said.
Nevertheless, "GOT" director Alex Graves answered questions about Lady Stoneheart recently, saying he has "no idea" if the highly-anticipated character will appear in season five.
