'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Release Date, News: Trailer Released, Special Featurette Airs Next Month

"Game of Thrones" season 5's trailer has already been released and it has been confirmed that the featurette will be aired in February.

The actual series will begin on April but it has been reported that HBO will launch a special episode entitled, "A Day In the Life" to be aired on Feb. 8. The special will be a 28-minute behind-the-scenes show.

This is not the first time "Game of Thrones" launched a featurette as they have also premiered a short 15-minute show called "Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing," just around February last year. "Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing" introduced the new plot for the previous season 4.

HBO has been tightlipped about the details of the new featurette, but according to Watchers on The Wall, a "Game of Thrones" fan site, the show will air at 7:30 p.m. EST on HBO.

The site also stated the possible contents of the show.

"So, be prepared for an extended- but not too extended- look at season five probably featuring some new footage, cast interviews, and some other general fluff to whet your appetite just enough to hold you over until the premiere."

Meanwhile, new characters have already been known to appear on Season 5 including The Sand Snakes, Orberyn Martell's daughters.

Other characters like Arya and Sansa are expected to begin a new journey, while Tyrion will need to escape after murdering his father, Tywin Lannister.

The official series will begin on April 5, 2015.
