'Game of Thrones' season 6 news, cast, spoilers: From 'Downton Abbey' to 'Game of Thrones,' James Faulkner joins season 6

Season 6 of "Game of Thrones" (GoT) is much anticipated, despite being a year away. During the wait, updates are always scarce, due to the tight security around the filming shoots. Usually, fans depend enough on the books to know what will happen and who to expect; however, without the guide of books this time around, fans are clawing out for more spoilers, more than ever. So it's no surprise that cast news keep popping every few weeks.

According to Watchers by the Wall, a community dedicated to GoT updates, the latest addition to the season 6 cast would be James Faulkner. Faulkner will fall into story when Sam "The Slayer" Tarly's journey is explored. Sam will be continuing his journey to become a master, while he is accompanied by Gilly and young Sam. This quest will then lead him back home in which viewers will get to know more of House of Tarly of Horn Hill. Faulkner will be playing Randyll Tarly, alongside three more actors as Sam's immediate family.

Faulkner is an English actor who have been in a number of television shows and movies. His most notable roles recently would be in Da Vinci's "Demons" as Pope Sixtus IV - Francesco & Allessandro della Rovere and "Downton Abbey" as Lord Daniel Sinderby.

Randyll is described to be strict and iron willed, which Faulkner definitely exudes. Other actors joining him are Rebecca Benson as Sam's sister and Samantha Spiro as his mother. Freddie Stroma would take on the role of Sam's brother, Dickon, who Randyll favors since he is everything Sam had never been — an actual fighter. It can be assumed that Sam's return may not be taken so well as this spell problems for Dickon, who Randyll wants to take over instead of Sam, hence why Sam was sent to join the Night's Watch.

It's not quite sure how the reunion will go, but basing on the previous family reunions, it doesn't look like it's going to go well for House of Tarly, too. Game of Thrones is set to return in 2016.
