'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 News, Spoilers: Iwan Rheon, Michael McElhatton On Ramsay's Brutal Killing Spree

Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) just proved himself to be possibly the cruelest character ever to appear on HBO's "Game of Thrones."

In a series of shocking scenes that rivalled many of the popular fantasy drama's most gruesome to date (e.g. the Red Wedding and the Purple Wedding), Ramsay learned that Walda Frey, his father's wife, had given birth to a son. Because the birth of a legitimate heir threatened his own position in House Bolton, Ramsay murdered his father, stabbing him in the heart. He then called for Walda and her newborn son and led them to the dog kennel. There, he unleashed the hounds on them, leaving fans with the bloodcurdling sounds of Walda's screams before they were drowned out by the dogs' growls.

Rheon spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Ramsay's recent killing spree, saying, "It shows a level of ambition we've not yet seen."

"It's very similar to how a lot of how totalitarian dictators solve their problems by getting rid of anybody in their way, with a very Stalin-y way of doing it," the actor said about the way Ramsay handled the new threat to his ascension.

But while the psychopathic killer and rapist has killed and tortured many, these particular murders were unplanned and, consequently, will take their emotional toll on Ramsay.

"It's not calculated, it's reactionary," Rheon said. "And it has an effect on him, which he didn't expect."

"Ramsay's sad, he's not a complete psychotic madman," "Game of Thrones" writer Dave Hill explained. According to Hill, Ramsay actually regrets having to murder his father. In the past, viewers have seen Roose Bolton's bastard son trying to live up to his father's expectations and attempting to be what he thinks his father wants him to become.

Meanwhile, Michael McElhatton, who plays Ramsay's father, the equally murderous Roose, spoke to TVLine following his character's demise on "Game of Thrones."

According to the actor, had Ramsay failed to act quickly, Roose would have probably killed his bastard son after learning of the birth of his legitimate heir. "I would say he would have gotten rid of Ramsay a moment later, actually," McElhatton told the outlet.

The actor also spoke about how he expects fans to react to Roose's death, knowing that many fans have been waiting for the character's comeuppance since he killed Robb Stark (Richard Madden) in the Red Wedding.

"I think a lot of people are going to be very happy," McElhatton said. "Of course they are!" he added with a laugh.

"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
