Since season 6 will continue to root from the novel series by George R.R. Martin, there have been rumors circulating the Internet that were based on the book.
It was reported that Diana Rigg, who plays Olenna Tyrell, and Conleth Hill, who plays Varys, were seen on the set of the series. However, the news has perplexed fans, since the two were seen filming in Alcazaba of Almeria in Spain. This is the location that will portray Dorne, which is a place that neither characters have been seen in.

With that, there are speculations that the two will be in Dorne trying to form individual alliances. It was reported that while The Tyrells hate the Martells, the recent events will lead the two families forming an alliance.
On the other hand, Varys will be dealing with Doran Martell's plan to bring the Martells to Daenerys. It was reported that Doran will be sending Quentyn to Daenerys in order to propose to her, which was a plan devised by Doran and Viserys, Daenerys' late brother. Meanwhile, it was revealed that Varys will try to help them get to the Mother of Dragons.
There were also reports that the new season will see the return of many familiar faces. It was said that the character Shae, who was Tyrion's lover, was seen on the set of the series. This comes as another surprise since past seasons already showed that Shae had died. With that, there are speculations that her character will serve as a flashback or a vision. It was also stated that Edmure Tully will be returning to the series. This will bring the Tully House back into the picture of the episodes to come.
