In the season 6 finale, Jon Snow's parentage was also made clear. He is the secret son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Will Jon Snow be back in Season 7 with a twin sister? Is Meera (Ellie Kendrick) his twin?

These are just a few questions and a whole lot more that only season 7 can answer.

Release Date

It was first reported that "Game of Thrones" season 7 will be released in April 2017. However, recent reports revealed that fans might have have to wait longer for the next season.

In an interview on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, showrunners of "Game of Thrones," explained that with the new developments in the final episode of Season 6, they need more time for production, as well as winter to get the gloomy feel of the set.

Is show reaching final episodes?

In the final episode of season 6, we saw the arrival of winter, which means that "Game of Thrones" is coming to its final episodes. Showrunners Benoiff and Weiss are outlining the final episodes and said that the last two seasons may be shorter than the original 10 episodes per season. Both noted they are down to 13 more episodes of the series. That being said, viewers may expect seven episodes for Season 7 and six episodes for Season 8 and may be looking forward for a potential final season. Viewers can expect the same thrill and adventure in the coming seasons.

"I think we're down to our final 13 episodes after this season. We're heading into the final lap," said Benioff. "That's the guess, though nothing is yet set in stone, but that's what we're looking at."

"Game of Thrones" is a production of HBO.
