'Game of Thrones' Season 7: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Talks Jaime and Brienne

The highly anticipated seventh season of HBO's "Game of Thrones" will not premiere until July, but that does not mean that there will be a shortage of teasers and talks about the wildly popular series. Recently, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau gave fans just that.

While speaking to The Daily Beast about his new Netflix film, "Small Crimes," Coster-Waldau revealed that he thinks there is a low chance that the Jaime and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) pairing will ever get off the ground.

"It's built out of contempt, which has turned into real respect, and love—not that they would ever use that word," he said about Jaime and Brienne's relationship. "I think they feel very strongly for each other. I have no idea if they would ever be able to act on it, and I don't think they would. It's all been about Cersei his whole life."

This is certainly disappointing news to fans of the Jaime and Brienne love pairing, but it is important to keep in mind that this is "Game of Thrones," and on this show, almost anything can happen.

Coster-Waldau also commented on the widespread theory that his character will end up killing Cersei (Lena Headey), especially given the look he shot her at the end of season 6. And while the actor described the theory as "great" with a grin, he has previously said that it is "probably too obvious."

The hype for the upcoming season is building with each passing day. The stakes are higher now that the White Walker threat is more real than ever. Thankfully, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) will be there to aid Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) cause with her three mighty dragons, which have been teased to be the size of planes in the new season.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is scheduled to premiere on July 16 on HBO.
