'Game of Thrones' Season 8 News: Cast Members in the Dark About Final Season's Ending, Says Emilia Clarke

"Game of Thrones" season 8 is currently in production, and HBO is doing everything in its power to keep the story and ending from leaking out to the public.

This much was revealed by star Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, when she spoke with The Telegraph (via Watchers on the Wall). The actress explained that a ban on social media has been imposed on the cast and crew and that there is truth to the multiple ending setup that HBO programming president Casey Bloys previously revealed.

"We have a very strict social-media ban this year because people need to stop spoiling it for everyone," Clarke said. "It's really frustrating."

It can be recalled that Bloys told reporters that "Game of Thrones" will be shooting different endings in order to confuse the public and throw them off to potential spoilers. There is reason to believe that this is not true, as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, pointed out that shooting multiple endings would add to the time and cost of the production.

However, Clarke revealed that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have "written a number of different endings." She also said that not even the actors know what the true ending is, which supports what Bloys said about filming multiple endings.

"None of the cast know what the actual ending is," Clarke said. "If there's ever a leak of any kind, don't believe it because it's probably not true."

Star Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, also previously explained how HBO is keeping scripts from getting leaked online. The scripts for all six episodes of the final season are available, but not even the actors can take them home. They have to read them and take in their lines on set. Additionally, there are no physical copies of the script, and there is even a verification process before one can read them.

As for the excitement surrounding the conclusion of perhaps one of the most successful series ever, star Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, can only add to the hype. While speaking to TIME, the actor teased a much "bigger" season.

"I'm actually down in York, I'm back in Belfast [where the show is filmed] some next week," Harington said. "It's a lot of — it's just bigger than it's ever been! It is sinking in, it's just quite emotional."

"Game of Thrones" season 8 does not have a premiere date yet.
