'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Plot News, Air Date: Winterfell to See Some Action; Marc Rissmann Cast as Harry Strickland
"Game of Thrones" season 8 is currently in pre-production, and a new set reveal has indicated a possible attack in Winterfell.
According to Watchers on the Wall, the set used for Winterfell has been thoroughly upgraded with added structures. Previously, some of these sections were only edited in through visual effects, but physically building them now indicates that there will be scenes filmed in these towers.
The publication posits that this could only mean that there will be some action in Winterfell in the final season. This is understandable and to be expected since everything is nearly coming to a head. The White Walkers have penetrated through the wall at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea with the help of an undead Viserion. It only makes sense that the war will eventually reach Winterfell.
However, Winterfell has more than one enemy. Apart from the Army of the Dead, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is also determined to consolidate her power over the Seven Kingdoms. With her brother no longer by her side, it remains to be seen what her next move will be.
Cersei only has Euron Greyoy (Pilou Asbæk) left. The pirate seemingly walked out on everyone due to fear of the Army of the Dead, but Cersei revealed to Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) that Euron is actually headed to Braavos on a secret mission to recruit the Golden Company. As such, it looks like fans are about to be introduced to the mercenary group's leader, Harry Strickland.
According to a separate report from Watchers on the Wall, Marc Rissmann is set to portray the role of Strickland, who, thus far, has only been mentioned in the books from which the show is based. Rissmann is known for his work on "Into the Badlands" and "The Last Kingdom."
It is unknown how everything will play out in the final season of the widely popular HBO show. Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, so much so that even cast members are not allowed to take their scripts home with them.
"Game of Thrones" season 8 does not have a premiere date yet.
