'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Plot Rumors: Will Arya End Up With Gendry? Maisie Williams Shares Hopes

Maisie Williams hopes her character on "Game of Thrones" season 8 will have a happy ending. The actress, who plays the fearless Arya Stark on the show, reveals she worries for her character's fate as if Arya is a real person.

Speaking with High Snobiety, Williams said that she longs for her character to end up happy and peaceful. If she could only steer Arya's fate on the show, Williams said that she wants Arya to end up with "a nice hunk" after all her misfortunes.

"She's become so independent, and she's got quite a hard-ass attitude," Williams said. "I think that it'd be nice to have peace of mind that she's being protected by an elder."

Williams, however, did not identify who this elder hunk is but an Arya and Gendry (Joe Dempsie) pair up has long been hinted ever since the two characters bonded in "Game of Thrones" season 2 and 3. In 2013, Williams revealed that Arya and Gendry's relationship might be more than platonic. The director told her to envision that the two characters love each other so that their parting will have more feelings.

Dempsie, on the other hand, can't wait for his character to reunite with Arya on "Game of Thrones" season 8. The two have not shared a scene together for over five years but Dempsie has fond memories of how Arya and Gendry were as good friends.

"They seemed to get on. It was a nice banter between the two of them," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter.

Arya, however, might also have an elder protector in The Hound, Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann), when "Game of Thrones" ends. After all, he sees the young Stark as his steward who might have given him trouble before but Arya has a soft spot in his heart.

"Game of Thrones" season 8 won't be back on HBO until late 2018 or early 2019.
