'Game of Thrones' Update: President Obama Gets Advanced Episodes, Maisie Williams Confirms Death of Syrio Forel
Fans cannot wait any longer for the return of "Game of Thrones" to the small screen for the sixth season. Fortunately, there are only a few days left until season 6 episode 1 will be released. But someone will be watching ahead everyone else as reports say that President Barack Obama has been granted special access to spoilers. According to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner David Benioff and Dan Weiss confirmed the rumors that the POTUS wanted advanced episodes.
The two then became Obama's genies as they allowed the commander-in-chief to watch episodes of their ultra-secret show ahead of their debut on HBO. As noted in a report by Independent, interviewer Veronica Belmont asked the Weiss and Beniof what their "ah-ha…we've totally made it" moment is.
"I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an 'ah-ha' moment. That was a very strange moment," Weiss said.
"When the commander-in-chief says 'I want to see advanced episodes,' what are you gonna do?" Benioff added.
President Obama will be getting advance DVD copies, which means he will know the fate of the characters, Jon Snow included, before anyone else could find out.
Meanhile, Maisie Williams, who plays as Arya Stark in the show, has finally put an end to a speculation. While many are still wondering and anticipating for the return of Jon Snow from the dead, there are also some asking whether Syrio Forel (Miltos Yerolemou) is really dead. IGN detailed that Syrio was Arya's "dance instructor" in the first season. He was also the first person who taught her how to fight with a sword. He was killed off-screen though and fans has their own theories about his fate.
Williams had her own theory for the character, but she confirmed that Syrio is really dead now. Both Benioff and Weiss revealed this information to her after shutting her own theory of Syrio being alive and incarnating as Jaqen.
