Gary Sinise Recovery: Actor to Perform in New York Benefit Concert (VIDEO)

CSI: New York actor Gary Sinise is ramping up for a comeback after being out for a month due to a car accident he suffered a month ago. That accident forced the actor to pull out of several different music concerts and appearances, however, Sinise has now recovered and will be making an appearance soon at a benefit concert.

Gary Sinise was riding as the passenger of the vehicle when he became involved in a car accident in March that forced him to cancel concerts with his Lt. Dan Band, in addition to other celebrity appearances. While Sinise appeared to spend only a short time in the hospital, the 57-year-old actor still required recovery time at home with his personal doctor.

Now after about a month long recovery, it appears that the actor is ready to return to work and will make his first appearance in Brooklyn, New York for a benefit concert. The concert proceeds will go to the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which help build customized homes for injured army heroes.

The band is named after Sinise's role as Lieutenant Dan Taylor in the movie "Forest Gump" where the actor played an injured soldier who is forced to have both of his legs amputated.

Following his role, Sinise became a passionate supporter for the American Military troops, and is currently involved in a project that will build a memorial for America's 3 million disabled military veterans.

Sinise's band has also currently secured enough funding to build a home for quad-amputee Army Specialist Brendan Marrocco, according to the Inquisitr. Sinise is on the Advisory Council of Hope For The Warriors and has also used his acting skills to help support military causes. He was the narrator in the documentary, "None Less Than Heroes: The Honor Flight Story" and "WWII in HD." He appeared in "On the Road in Iraq With Our Troops and Gary Sinise."
