Gears of War 4 on Xbox One Will Not Be Rushed, Says Microsoft

Microsoft will not rush the release of Gears of War 4 on Xbox One, according to the company's Phil Spencer.

The Microsoft Studios boss discussed the game's developer Black Tusk Studios recently and stated that it will not be rushing out its first entry in the hit franchise because it wants to make sure that it reinvents the gameplay.

Spencer tweeted out this information earlier this week. When asked about the next Gears of War release Spencer replied by saying there was no definite release date.

"Still working through plan," he said. "I can say first original GoW from BT has to reignite franchise and grow it, won't be a quick turn."

Some fans responded to Spencer by telling him that it was a good move.

"I totally agree with you Phil! GoW 4 needs to be HUGE," said Twitter user fl-Hawat.

Spencer reassured fans that the right people are working on the game.

"And I believe we've built the right team to achieve that goal, I just want to give them the time," he continued.

Microsoft recently acquired Gears of War from its former owner Epic Games and entrusted the Vancouver-based Black Tusk Studios with the task of creating the next installment in the series, which will be released for the Xbox One.

Even Epic Games believes the move was a good one for the franchise.

"I don't think the franchise could be in better hands," Ex-Epic Games director Cliff Bleszinski on his blog. "Gears is just as much Rod's baby as it was mine. He'll take good care of her." Bleszinski will not be involved in the next-gen console Gears of War.

The original Gears of War was released for Xbox 360 in 2006 and was followed by two successful sequels making it one of Microsoft's most known exclusives.
