'Gears of War 4' Trailer Praised by Former Series Designer
Former "Gears of War" designer Cliff Bleszinski has seen the latest "Gears of War 4" trailer and has nothing but praise for it. The new trailer (below) was aired during "Fear the Walking Dead's" season two premiere on Sunday night.
The trailer offers a sneak peak at the first chapter of a brand-new trilogy from developer The Coalition. "Gears of War 4" will feature "Gears of War 3" protagonist Marcus Fenix's son JD who faces a new threat. Flashbacks reveal the father planting a tree contrasted with the present where JD is running from monsters.
"This made me misty," Bleszinski praised the video's title "Tomorrow" and its tone. "Even calling it "tomorrow" as in "we have a tomorrow" - that's what JD is to Marcus. Oh man."
In another tweet, Bleszinski praised the "Gears of War 4" team for a job well done. Executive Producer Rod Fergusson responded by thanking Bleszinski and saying he is proud of the team behind the game at The Coalition.
"Can't wait to play it," Bleszinski tweeted in response to Fergusson. "From the trailer looks like another homecoming and more daddy issues."
Bleszinski previously worked at Epic Games which made "Gears of War" games in the past. He left the company in 2012 and now runs Boss Key Productions. The studio is currently busy with its multiplayer shooter "LawBreakers."
"Gears of War 4" is expected to release on October 11 as an Xbox One exclusive, but before that a beta is scheduled later this month. Those who played "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" on either the Xbox One or Windows 10 will have early access to the beta starting on April 18. Qualifying Xbox LIve Gold members will be able to join the beta starting April 25. The "Gears of War 4" beta ends on May 1.
