'General Hospital' Spoilers, Cast News: Paul's Motives for Having Sonny Shot

In the past weeks, one of the main turning points in the mob war of the families would be the shooting of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). This event was enough to trigger a domino effect in the chain of command, most specifically in the Corinthos family. Furthermore, with Sonny being down, the introduction of Port Charles' new big bad had come about and it's none other than Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi).

Upon Paul's return, the original intention that everyone, including Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) and Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins), thought he had was to reconcile with his family. However, further into the weeks, it became cleaerer that Paul was posing to take over the city as the new mob boss. However, according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, it seems that Paul's motivation for having Sonny shot had some revenge included in it.

It seems that the history goes back all the way to Karen Wexler. Karen was a teenage girl who Sonny had stripping for his club "The Paradise Lounger" and sleeping for him while keeping her drugged all that while. The connection happened during Paul's clean days, when he was a legitimate lawyer in Port Charles and had not any involvement with the mob business. One of his close friends, Jagger Cates, ended up marrying Karen, hence the desire to revenge for Jagger. However, many think that although this might have triggered the start of it all, Paul's motivation can ultimately be due to all the dirty dealings Sonny has had with the Quartermaines.
