'General Hospital' Spoilers for December 31, 2015: Liz and Nik to Heat Things Up for the New Year?

A new year means a new life for many in "General Hospital," and two of the people who will most likely make a change in their broken lives are Liz and Nikolas.

Following the events that occurred in the romance between Liz (Rebecca Herbst) and Jason (Billy Miller), it is only reasonable that Liz realizes it's time to let go. It should be remembered that she has kept Jason in the dark for many months, allowing for an apparent breakdown in her relationship with Jason when he finally found out the truth.

It seems that fate is bringing people together as Hayden (Rebecca Budig) has discovered the truth about Nikolas (Tyler Christopher). Any woman who finds out that her lover had her shot will walk away. However, it seems she has other plans since she won't let Nik get away with his crime easily.

With Liz and Nik both busted for their sweet lies, it only gives them more reasons to reignite the love that once was theirs. Nik will definitely have to pay for what he did to Hayden and suffer from it. Liz, too, will have to accept that everyone else, except Franco (Roger Howarth) and Nik, will most likely understand her.

Spoilers suggest that Liz getting back together with Nik will finally balance the bad in both characters. Both are aware of the dark, little secrets hidden in the corners of their minds so it would be easier for them to reunite.

On the other hand, Jason won't easily let them off, even if he is determined to awaken the love that he and Sam (Kelly Monaco) shared.

Another reason that would probably draw Liz closer to Nikolas is the fact that he is Jason's most plausible way out of the mess that he is now in. Liz could use Nik in some way to get Jason back.

Watch "General Hospital" on ABC every weekday to find out if Liz and Nik will finally be together again.
