George Michael Hospital Drama as Singer Falls Seriously Ill With Pneumonia
George Michael is in hospital, according to his publicist, suffering from pneumonia. The British singer has been rushed to hospital in Vienna to be treated after falling seriously ill.
The global pop star’s publicist Connie Filippello has announced Wednesday that his upcoming tours in Vienna, Strasbourg, France, and Cardiff, U.K. have been postponed due to the serious nature of his hospitalization.
Filippello made a statement confirming to the press that Michael, 48, had been rushed to hospital and “diagnosed with pneumonia and he is currently receiving treatment.”
Austrian media has reported that Michael was rushed to Vienna’s AKH hospital and will remain there to receive treatment. It is unclear whether his schedule beyond his European tour will be affected, but at the moment that is certainly a possibility.
Staff at Vienna’s AKH hospital have refused to comment to The Christian Post, and would not confirm that George Michael was a patient there.
Fans have expressed their concerns on social media platforms. Many of his Austrian followers had planned to see him in concert on Monday on Vienna. However, it was announced just two hours before the concert was due to begin that he had been taken ill and that the show would have to be canceled.
