'Ghost Wars' Air Date, Teaser: Avan Jogia, Vincent D'Onofrio Supernatural Series Unleashes Official Trailer

Syfy's "Ghost Wars" unleashes its first official trailer this week. The show which stars Avan Jogia and Vincent D' Onofrio will premiere on the cable network in October.

The series centers on a remote town in Alaska that's overrun by paranormal forces. A local outcast named Roman Mercer (Jogia) might be the only one who can restore order in the town because of his growing psychic powers.

The undead is everywhere in Port Moore and residents are constantly terrorized. Mercer tries to wrap his head around why the supernatural exists. Could something begrudge them, leaving a baggage they could not carry beyond the grave?

Simon Barry created "Ghost Wars" and he will also serve as its showrunner. Syfy ordered 13 episodes of the series, which wrapped up filming in Vancouver.

Barry also directed an episode of the show. David Von Ancken did the pilot episode while the other directors are Jason Priestley, Leslie Hope, Mathias Herdndl and Michael Nankin.

"[Ghost Wars] is an opportunity to tell stories about human politics and how we shape our beliefs and lives based on our individual perspectives and biases," the showrunner said when the series order was confirmed in May. "Science, Humanism, Religion and the Paranormal all get a seat at the table."

One cast member is optimistic that the show will be back to filming in November or December. That is if Syfy grants a second season renewal but this has not yet been announced.

"We can't believe that four months have gone by so quickly, and it's a really good group," Kandyse McClure (Landis) told Hidden Remote in early September. "We really enjoy being around each other, so hopefully, it'll be Season 2 sooner than later."

Syfy will premiere "Ghost Wars" on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 9:00 p.m. EST. Apart from Jogia, D' Onofrio, and McClure, the show also stars Sarah Giles (Abigail), Allison James (Isabel), Donald Heng (Deputy Larry Foon), Carmel Amit (Daphne), Luvia Petersen, Meatloaf and Kim Coates.
