'Ghostbusters' Movie Cast News: Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling Linked to Film
For several months now, there has been talk about an all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot and it was recently confirmed that Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) will be directing the film. Now, more information about the film has come out through the leaked emails from the studio's top executives, which is one of the end results of the cyber hacking attacks on Sony Pictures.
One specific hacked email suggests that some A-list stars are interested to be in the film as Sony is about to start casting "Ghostbusters 3." Among the names that were dropped in the e-mail include Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Lizzy Caplan, and Jennifer Lawrence.
In an email dated Oct. 8, 2014 between Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Ivan Reitman, director and producer of the original "Ghostbusters" film, some key details about the reboot have come to light.
Pascal wrote, "it isn't a sequel to the 80s movies and it is gonna be totally original with completely different characters and our job is to find a clever way to connect the movie to the original franchise so that we can use all the assets and everything that is great about the original franchise."
Meanwhile, an A-list actor could be appearing in the "Ghostbusters" reboot as another email, this time between Pascal and Ilene Feldman— Ryan Gosling's manager— was leaked. The Daily Beast reports that Pascal and Feldman hit it off during a recent meeting, and the website also reports that Feig has one male part in the reboot. Remarking about Gosling getting the role, Pascal wrote, "How insane would that be?"
Rebel Wilson admitted to Matt Lauer on "The Today Show" that she met with Feig.
"Look, I have had a meeting," said the actress, "but who knows? They have to look at the script when it's finished. I would even do that without the money truck. I'd do that for free. I probably shouldn't say that on live TV."
Lawrence also admits that she met with the director of "Ghostbusters 3."
"I actually met with the director," said Lawrence in an interview with MTV UK. "I had dinner with him."
