'Gilmore Girls' Revival is Limited with 4 'Mini-Movie' Episodes

TV's favorite mother-and-daughter series, "Gilmore Girls" will be making a limited comeback, thanks to Netflix. According to a report in TV Line, the streaming network has reportedly sealed a deal with Warner Bros. for the said revival. Warner Bros. is the distributor of the series which was originally written by Amy Sherman-Palladino and aired for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007. The revival hopes to reunite original cast members Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as mother-and-daughter tandem of Lorelai and Lorelai Leigh "Rory" Gilmore.

The report noted that negotiations are still underway for the show's original cast members to reprise their roles but it's sources indicated that Graham, Bledel, Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) and Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) are most likely to return. No word as of yet on the rest of the cast members such as Melissa McCarthy, who is now a major comedic actor.

The revival, according to insiders, will consist of four mini-movies or episodes. Each episode will run for 90 minutes and as reported in another TV Line report, each episode will represent a season in a year, which means there will be a fall episode, a winter episode, a spring episode and a summer episode.

Team Palladino, composed of Amy and Daniel Palladino, are said to be writing the whole revival, with Daniel as executive producer as well. The storyline will show the characters and where they are eight years after the show's last season, and will be set in present-day. It is not yet known whether it will still be located in the fictional town of Stars Hollow or not.

News of the revival has sparked numerous fan discussions about what they would like to see in the series. One such discussion is centered on the younger Gilmore girl, Rory and whether any of her old beaus will be making an appearance in the show. As most fans know, Jared Padelicki (now of "Supernatural") played one of Rory's boyfriends, Dean Forester. Another is about Lorelai and her relationship with local café owner Luke Danes. Some fans are hoping that the two eventually tied the knot.

The show originally premiered on the Warner Bros. network in 2000 and successfully ran for seven seasons. During its last season, it got transferred to the The CW.
