'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' Season 2: Double Pregnancy for Rory, Lorelai?

Rory (Alexis Bledel) may not be the only one pregnant in the potential second part of the "Gilmore Girls" revival on Netflix.

Speculations predict that if the Gilmores' storyline will continue, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke's (Scott Patterson) married life will be one of the highlights. There is a chance that Lorelai will finally become pregnant a second time, giving Rory a sibling after all these years. During the finale, Rory told her mom that she was expecting her first baby. Viewers did not get to see how Lorelai reacted, since the revival ended on that note.

A double pregnancy will admittedly be an interesting plot, but it may only happen if Netflix and the series creators will agree to a renewal. Previously, it has been revealed that the two parties are engaged in preliminary talks. Netflix is reportedly intent on convincing the Palladinos to write more episodes, even though that latter have already made it clear that the pregnancy ending was how they had planned the show to end all along.

Many fans have been vocal with their dissatisfaction about the revival's ending. Rory, who has always been a model student/daughter/citizen, ended up being pregnant out of wedlock. The baby's father is likely Logan (Matt Czuchry), whom she had been seeing on the sly even after their breakup. Logan was already engaged to a French heiress, but it did not stop him and Rory from sleeping with each other. Rory had a boyfriend, Paul (Jack Carpenter), but the way he was rarely mentioned in the four-part revival revealed that their relationship was not serious.

While a continuation will definitely give Rory a chance to redeem herself and satisfy the fans who are hoping for a better ending, Michael Ausiello of TVLine thinks the "last four words" is already a good-enough conclusion for the Gilmore storyline.

"I want the franchise to end on a high note and the way Amy always intended, with those cliffhanger-y final four words. Just because something left you wanting more doesn't mean you need more. ... It's not that I don't think there's more story to tell with Lorelai, Emily and (certainly) pregnant Rory. And it's not that I'm doubtful Amy and Dan could deliver the goods again. But A Year in the Life left me with such gratitude and fulfillment that I'd prefer not to risk anything mucking that up," Ausiello said.
