'Gintama: Porori-hen' Air Date, Spoilers: Sixth Season to Premiere in October With New Anime-Original Content?

Gintoki Sakata and the rest of the Yorozuya return for the sixth season of the Japanese anime series, "Gintama," which will be adapting the Porori Arc this time around.

The said arc is believed to feature some original content that has not been seen on the manga series yet.

There is currently very little information on what this particular arc is all about. Even the official TV Tokyo page of the series advises fans looking for the upcoming installment's trailer to not be too concerned about it and to instead spend their time waiting by watching live-action movies until the series finally premieres in October.

"Gintama" is an anime series that features various short gag skits lasting for a full 30-minute episode following the protagonist, Gintoki, and the rest of the Yorozuya as they get involved in one shenanigan after the next.

It is based on the manga series created by Hideaki Sorachi which began serialization in 2004. It has become as one of the top-selling manga in Japan since then with more than 50 million copies in print. The series has reportedly entered its final arc in July of this year.

The Japanese four-man rock band, Blue Encount, is set to perform the new opening theme simply titled, "VS." They have also previously performed an opening theme for the same anime back in 2015.

On the other hand, the all-female group, Ayumikurikamaki, will be performing the series' new ending theme titled, "Hankou Seimei (Opposition Proclamation)."

"Gintama: Porori-hen" premieres at a special time on Sunday, Oct. 1, late night at 2:05 a.m. JST on TV Tokyo, Television Hokkaido, Television Aichi, TV Setouchi, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting. The subsequent episodes will be airing on Sunday at 1:35 a.m. JST. Broadcast schedules are subject to change due to some special events and other unforeseen circumstances.
