Gionee Elife S8 Launched; Specs & Features Include 3D Touch, 5.5-Inch Display, 16MP Camera

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Gionee has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone called as the Elife S8 during the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. According to a report by The Indian Express, the device is the first one in the company's rebranding under the slogan "Make Smiles."

As for the specs, Gadgets 360 detailed that the smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED display with narrow bezels measuring 0.75mm. The Chinese company claims that the device has one of the narrowest widths for a 5.5-inch display since it has a 74.9mm width.. It has a 2.5D glass and features a 3D Touch which is similar to the one found in the iPhone 6s. It recognizes three levels of touch which are touching for choosing an app, tapping to preview the content and pressing to run the app.

Under the hood, the device is powered with an octa-core CPU MediaTek Helio P10 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 64 GB. It features a 16-megapixel RWB rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, laser autofocus, and LED flash. The company also claimed that the camera app comes with features like text recognition (OCR) support (English and Chinese) and beauty effects, time lapse, slow mo for the video. On the front is an 8-megapixel camera.

The device runs with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 UI overlay. It has a fingerprint reader that is located on the Home key and is powered with 3,000mAh battery. It has a fast charging feature.

In terms of the connectivity options, the device comes with 4G LTE and dual SIM. It also has an NFC with it. According to Technology Personalized, the selling point for Gionee S8 in India is the support for Dual WhatsApp accounts that comes along out of the box.

The Gionee Elife S8 will be available starting March and will cost approximately Rs 34,000.
