'Glasses for Noah' Goes Viral; Community Shows Support for Boy With Glasses
Noah Fisher, 4, was not excited about having to wear glasses, so his mom, Lindsey Fisher, decided to show him that he was not alone. She started an online campaign that invited others to submit photos of themselves wearing glasses but never expected the amount of support that people would show for her son.
"I said, 'Put your glasses on,' and he just broke into tears," Lindsey told USA Today. "It was the saddest thing. It just broke my heart. And I finally got him to tell me why he was crying and he said because everyone was going to laugh at him."
She then decided to start a Facebook page entitled "Glasses For Noah" in order to show her son that he was not the only one who had to wear glasses. So far the page has over 3,000 "Likes" and features pictures of kids and grownups alike wearing their glasses and offering words of encouragement to Noah.
Some of the pictures are from people in the United States, but the campaign has also picked up fans and photos from people in Hungary and Ireland. At least one person posted a photo of Christian Bale, aka "Batman," wearing his glasses; another took a photo of himself dressed as Clark Kent, aka "Superman," wearing his glasses as well.
"It was very humbling to see how the community took time out of their day to post a picture of themselves for a little boy that half of them don't even know. I don't know how many more likes or pictures we'll get, but as long as I'm getting pictures, I'll keep showing them to him every night," Lindsey said.
"Thank you SO much for all of the photos – Noah is LOVING them! Facebook won't let me share any more of your pictures at the moment – but please keep them coming! Y'all are amazing and we would give each of you a hug if we could!!!" she posted to the Facebook page.
