'God of War 4' Revealed at E3; Kratos to Fight Norse Gods

Kratos leave Greece for the newest game in the franchise

As rumors claimed that Sony revealed the newest game in the "God of War" franchise, the new installment had a small demo showing a visibly older Kratos and his son Charlie.

According to the information that was leaked, Kratos will not be fighting Greek Gods and Goddesses this time; the game will instead be featuring foes from Norse Mythology. However, the change of location plus the addition of one of Kratos' children leave many loyal fans with more questions than answers.

Who is Charlie?

One of the biggest plot points in the previous "God of War" games is that Kratos is seeking atonement for his actions, which led to the deaths of his wife and daughter. His ashen white skin is even the ashes of his family.

The main reason why Kratos seeks revenge against the Greek gods is because they are directly responsible for the deaths of his family. However, the addition of Charlie into the game leaves fans wondering if Kratos have a new family after killing all the Greek Gods in "God of War 3."

Where are the Blades of Sparta?

Kratos' signature weapon throughout the "God of War" series have been the twin blades of Sparta, which are two enchanted swords attached to chains that are also connected to Kratos' arms. In the demo that was shown at E3, Kratos was seen wielding an axe that seemed to have some sort of runic power to it.

In the fight against a Nordic Troll shown in the trailer, the axe was able to damage and somehow defeat the monster in a style similar to the previous "God of War" games.

Why the Change of Location?

The "God of War" franchise has always been located in the ancient Greek times, with Kratos fighting the Greek Gods and their minions. At the end of "God of War 3," Athena is still in Greece and is possibly the only Olympian left alive. So why not keep the series in Greece like it has always been?

The answer is probably that the designers of the game thought that it was time for the series to be rebooted and that the Greece story arc has ran its course. The game itself is not being called "God of War 4" but simply "God of War." Perhaps, Kratos will now be fighting Norse Gods such as Odin and Thor.

Sony did not reveal a launch date for the new "God of War" game, but one can only assume that it will be available on the Playstation 4 console in the near future.
