'God of War' News, Release Date: Kratos' Relationship with Son Will Have a Huge Impact on Gameplay
A new trailer for "God of War" has been released, featuring more father-and-son time between Kratos and Atreus. Sony debuted the new gameplay trailer during the company's Paris Games Week media showcase last Monday.
In the new trailer, Kratos is depicted as a doting dad, a bit far from the old man that he was. However, the trailer reveals that although fatherhood has softened him a bit, he is still the same strong Spartan that fans of "God of War" have always known and loved. While it is unusual to see a young boy trailing alongside Kratos during his adventures, how Kratos deals with fatherhood is one of the most exciting things to see in the upcoming game.
The trailer shows Kratos and Atreus venturing into the Huldra Mine, fighting against the likes of the Draugr along the way. Although fans have yet to get to know Kratos' son, the fighting scene in the new footage reveals how strong the strategic connection between him and his father is. Kratos' close combat and Atreus' long-ranged attacks make them a perfect fighting duo, and it looks like their action sequences are going to be a blast.
According to reports, Kratos' relationship with his son will have a huge impact on "God of War" fans' gaming experience when it arrives next year. As Kratos takes on a fatherly role in the upcoming game, fans will reportedly notice a major change of pace when playing the game.
Aside from the arrival of Atreus and the changes in the overall gameplay of the series, another significant difference in the new "God of War" is Kratos' voice. Previously, it was reported that Terrence Carson would be replaced by actor Christopher Judge as Kratos, and fans got to hear Judge's performance as the Spartan for the first time in the new trailer.
"God of War" is set for release in 2018 for PlayStation 4.
