'Godless' Release Date, News: Netflix Previews Upcoming Series Set in 1880s, American West
Netflix has released the latest trailer for its upcoming original series "Godless," where fans can have a glimpse of another show set in the American West during the 1880s.
While fans will get a preview of how the American West will be portrayed in "Godless," Netflix has also provided a sneak peek of the miniseries' premise that revolves around the outlaw named Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell).
However, the trailer's interesting approach tried to let fans see the human side of Roy by showing snippets of his past and how he became the sought-after outlaw that they will watch in "Godless."
The trailer opened with a young Roy on the back of a horse beside the anti-hero character, Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels), who seemed to be giving him early life lessons.
However, according to the trailer's description, the father-and-son relationship that Roy and Frank once developed will somehow arrive at a falling-out. Both outlaws, Frank apparently holds the more superior character and will later on hunt down Roy after the latter becomes an enemy to his father figure.
The official description hinted that Roy's adventure will encounter a sudden twist when he ends up at a New Mexico town called La Belle, which is "mysteriously made up entirely of women."
La Belle's role as a key setting in the entire American West world in "Godless" is what makes the miniseries a unique show that borrows the classic genre. However, the trailer proves that the familiar elements of the classic Western films will still be present, such as random gunslinging threats here and there.
The trailer also suggested that Frank will soon develop a romance with a La Belle resident named Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery). It will also be interesting to find out how the two began their affair and how the people in La Belle will accept them, given the obvious fact that men do not normally arrive and stay in the mysterious town.
"Godless" will feature six episodes that will start streaming globally on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
