'God's Not Dead 2' News: Sequel Trails Original Movie's Weekend Debut Figures

According to Forbes, the number is trailing behind the original movie's 3.2x multiplier on its weekend opening. The outlet suggests that production decisions have led largely to the second-in-line numbers.
While Pure Flix Entertainment is growing by the day and has released a number of good and successful big screen titles, the support of bigger and more popular studios may have affected the interest of viewers.

Another issue that the magazine pointed out is the persecution theme that was featured in the sequel. Christian drama that centers on family, determination, goals, and other more general themes, such as "Miracles from Heaven" and the widely acclaimed "The Blind Side," are a safer choice in terms of viewership.
On the other hand, the film is still considered a success for many Christians. Many believe that it opened doors for further strengthening the cause of Christianity not only in schools but in other entities.
On Saturday, presidential hopeful Ted Cruz hosted the film's showing at a local theater in Wisconsin as part of his campaign. According to Religion News, during the evening's speech, the Texas senator explained how the Democratic Party's radicalization has put religious freedom on the edge.
"It is unfortunate to see the modern Democratic Party has gotten so extreme, so radicalized that religious liberty is now viewed in conflict with the partisan political agenda of the Democratic Party. Everyone of us has the right to live according to our faith. And this should be a shared value that brings us together," he explained.
Critics and atheists have slammed the sequel, calling it a far-fetched representation. Erik Stanley, a lawyer for Alliance Defending Freedom, believes otherwise. For him, the events depicted in the movie have already happened in real life in many schools across the country.
Stanley told Townhall that Christians, including teachers and students, are being silenced because of their decision to stand for their religious preferences.
