'Godzilla the Game' News: Release Date, Details and Trailer (VIDEO)
Bandai Namco recently confirmed "Godzilla: The Game" will get a North American and European release in mid-summer this year.
"Godzilla: The Game," originally launched in Japan last December 2014, is now headed to the West, game publisher, Bandai Namco announced, with a July 14 launch date for the U.S. and July 17 release for Europe.
The action adventure one-on-one fighting game will be available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and will feature Godzilla, the world's most famous kaiju, who will be battling a number of different enemies in an alternate timeline.
The game's trailer has also been released online depicting the storyline of how scientists studying Godzilla were able to harness "G-Energy", an apparently endless power source from the kaiju. Sixty years later, Godzilla returns and mankind has to rely on its last hope, the "G-Energy," to try and stop the monster.
Players will be able to choose between Destruction Mode with 20 different stages; King of the Monsters Mode composed of six stages, each with a different monster; Evolution Mode, where players can unlock new abilities; Diorama Mode, to unlock monster models and build a specialized Godzilla; Monster Field Mode, to access bios for a number of Godzilla monsters, and Online Multiplayer Mode.
Players can power-up their monster character by collecting "G-Energy" during each stage of the game, enough to grow their Godzilla into a skyscraper-size fighting machine.
The game also employs a special Movie-Style Camera Angle System with camera points they can switch from normal view to pre-set locations found on the map. Players can switch the view angle and control Godzilla from a point of view seen only in movies.
"Godzilla: The Game" is available for pre-order, with the Hollywood Godzilla skin accessible for later purchases after the game's release date. Bandai Namco also released information the PS4 versions of the game will be available on disc, while PS3 players can access the game via PSN downloads.
