Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: Preview

Defending NBA Champions the Golden State Warriors will be facing the Minnesota Timberwolves for the second time this season.

The said game will be taking place on Monday night, March 21st, at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The first encounter between both teams happened early in the season on November 12th, where the Warriors won via a wide margin with a score of 129-116.

During the said game, reigning Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry unloaded 46 points, as well as four rebounds, five assists, and two steals, through 37 minutes of playing time, and 15 out of 25 shooting from the field, giving his team a 10-0 start.

Forward Draymond Green also made significant contributions, scoring 23 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists through 35 minutes of playing time and 8 out of 10 shooting from the field. The Warriors still hold the best record in the entire league with a win-loss slate of 62-7.

They did, however, experience a break in their recent seven-game winning streak when the San Antonio Spurs stopped them on Saturday with a score of 87-79.

The Warriors were missing the services of big men Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut. Golden State would need to have at the very least an 11-2 record in the next succeeding games through the end of the current regular season to top the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' record of 72-10.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, on the other hand, have not been performing at par, over the last few weeks. They have only won three of their last six games, two of those happening consecutively, early this month. Their most recent defeat was a narrow five-point deficit against the Houston Rockets, with a final score of 116-111.

According to Timberwolves head coach Sam Mitchell, his team simply ran out of steam towards the end.

"After a long road trip, I thought we just ran out of gas. Houston made some tough shots," Mitchell said in an NBA.com report.

The Minnesota Timberwolves currently hold a record of 22-47, and are situated at the number 13 spot at the Western Conference standings.
