The two teams share a little bit of history as the Warriors and Pelicans met last year in the first round of the playoffs in the Western Conference.
That match-up ended well for the Warriors as they won that and eventually made that impressive run towards the championship – something that they will undoubtedly try to do again this year.
However, for the Pelicans, they are trying to erase that humiliating defeat at the hands of the Warriors and try to take their spot as one of the emerging teams in the West.
They were swept in four games in that series but with the team growing together and getting stronger with another season under their belts, expect the Pelicans to put on a better fight.
New Orleans are undoubtedly anchored by their leader Anthony Davis as the power forward will be the focal point of the team on both offence and defence.
However, the Pelicans should not rely on Davis too much as it makes the team predictable and stopping Davis almost automatically equates to stopping the whole team.
This case is different for the Warriors who have reigning MVP Stephen Curry healthy for another season.
However, he isn't the only weapon in Golden State's high-powered offence as players like Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala and Harrison Barnes are returning and are going to produce at any time.
This makes Golden State a very dangerous and unpredictable team that New Orleans should definitely prepare for.
