'Golf Story' Nintendo Switch Release Date: Game Hits West Today, Sept. 28
The highly anticipated sports role-playing game "Golf Story" is officially headed to the Nintendo Switch in Europe and North America today, Sept. 28.
Fans were afraid that it will miss its slated September release window as developer Sidebar Games remained tight-lipped about the matter as the final week of the month approached.
But gamers can finally let out a sigh of relief now with "Golf Story" set to give players the experience to "tee up anywhere — on and off the course" this month. It comes with a $14.99/£13.49 price tag.
The official description for the game reads:
"Golf Story" combines the sheer excitement of golf with a serious story that plays out over eight different courses. Play the story of a golfer who is forced to give up all that he holds dear for one last shot at accomplishing his dreams.
But all is not so simple in the world of golf. To best today's players you have to be able to keep up with them both on and off the course.
In "Golf Story," players will learn that hitting problems with a golf ball could actually solve them. While doing so, they can enjoy its retro-style visuals and classic golfing gameplay that will easily transport them to the iconic 16-bit era of gaming. Siliconera says that the game might have been inspired from the old-school "Mario Golf" series.
The fun spans over eight environments that present gamers with unique challenges and courses to go through as well as people and even secrets to discover.
"Golf Story" is not just any other sports game as it fuses its RPG elements with its core golf mechanics for some unique and fun experience.
Last but not the least, the much-awaited game, despite being a golf-oriented game, will also actually feature a "dramatic story with a diverse cast of characters."
