Golshifteh Farahani Iran Ban: Actress Banned for Nude Photos

An Iranian actress has been banned from her country after choosing to pose nude for a French magazine.

Golshifteh Farahani decided to do a black and white topless shoot for France’s Madame Le Figaro magazine, but ensured she was photographed covering her breasts with her hands.

“I was told by a Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guide official that Iran does not need any actors or artists. You may offer your artistic services somewhere else”, Farahani told The Telegraph.

Farahani, is most famous for being the first Iranian-based actress to star in a Hollywood film since the country’s 1979 revolution. She starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in film “Body of Lies.”

She has previously been in trouble in her home country, when an Iranian court accused her of breaking the law by making a movie without permission, after the 2008 premiere of “Body of Lies.”

At that time she told the New York Daily News: “[Iranian officials] took my passport. The intelligence service interrogated me several times. In the end, the judge said, ‘We have to see the movie and then decide what we’re going to do with you’.”
