Google and Huawei May Be Working on Another Nexus Smartphone for 2015
Good news for Nexus fans – Google and Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei are said to be working on another Nexus smartphone, which they are planning to release within the year. A new Nexus smartphone will be of interest to a lot of consumers because Nexus has been synonymous to devices with good specifications and "a pure Android experience."
Being Google's flagship Android devices, they offer the Android operating system as it is originally designed by Google, unlike other Android devices made by other manufacturers which have their own versions of the mobile OS. Another clear advantage of Google Nexus devices is that these devices are usually the first in line to receive the latest updates for the OS.
Since the first Nexus device was launched in 2010, Google has been diligently launching or releasing one smartphone every year. This year, 2015, the report said may be an exception as the company is rumored to be working on two smartphones, one with LG and one with Huawei.
The Huawei Nexus device is reportedly the larger of the two smartphones, with a screen size reported at 5.7-inches, according to Tech Times.
If reports are true, this will be the first time that Google will work with a Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for Nexus. According to the report, Huawei may also be bringing something more than hardware manufacturing to the equation, like expanding Google's reach in China with the establishment of an app store just for the Chinese market. The company can very well be the key for Google to boost its presence in such a big market. Google on the other hand, can prove to be an advantage for Huawei to break into the Western market.
As these reports remain unconfirmed by either Google or Huawei, fans will just have to wait for official announcements. If Google's previous launch cycles are any indication, the new Nexus smartphones may be revealed sometime in October.
