Google LG Nexus 5 might be named 'Nexus 5X'
Google is all set to launch two Nexus Smartphones on September 29 at an event in San Francisco. One is built by LG and possibly called the Google LG Nexus 5 or Nexus 5X, and the other one is a bigger phablet built by Chinese handset manufacturer, Huawei.
The Google LG Nexus 5 is the successor to the Google LG Nexus 5 of 2013, This is the reason it may be launched as "Nexus 5X." Google has still not decided on the name but it will have to make a decision soon as the launch date is nearing and users need a differentiator between the 2013 Nexus 5 and the 2015 Nexus 5.
According to Android Authority, the Nexus 5X might be offered a starting point price of $399 for the 16GB storage variant. For the 32GB storage variant, the cost might be $450. This pricing will bring the Nexus 5X face to face with two competitors - the Moto X Pure Edition that starts at $399 but has higher–end specs than the Nexus 5X, and the 16GB OnePlus 2, which is $70 cheaper than the Nexus 5X but its invite system means that you might not be able to buy it.
The Google LG Nexus 5X will be offered in black, white and light blue colors. Details about its specs are not much but it seems to have a plastic body, a USB Type C Port, possibly a fingerprint sensor and might also have a camera bump.
Since Android M is going to come out in Autumn, the Google LG Nexus 5X will most likely be preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow that includes mobile payments system and 'more intuitive' app permissions.
One puzzling thing is why Google is offering the Nexus 5X from a base 16GB storage since Google had launched Nexus 6 from base variant of 32GB storage. Even if the Google LG Nexus 5X is a mid-range smartphone, 16GB is a bit of a downer.
You can get both the smartphones immediately after the launch online at the Google Store.
