Google Nexus 2016 Rumors: Price Slash on Nexus Devices May Suggest Release Date Is Near
Multiple reports are saying new Google Nexus devices will hit the market soon, as various Nexus devices are getting some significant discounts lately.
Yibada spotted a couple of these Nexus deals in Amazon, specifically the Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet. Both devices are currently selling for nearly half their regular prices. The 32 GB Nexus 6 from Motorola can be bought for $349.99, which provides consumers with $300 savings. Similarly, the Nexus 9 tablet's price is currently sold at roughly 25 percent less. The 16 GB variant is selling for less than $300, while the 32 GB variant is selling for more or less $350.
Some have taken the discounts to mean that retailers are getting rid of old stock and making space for new devices that could roll out within the year. Rumors have placed the Google Nexus 2016 release date in May when Google will have its 10th annual I/O Developers Conference. The company's Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai announced in January that the event will be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View from May 18 to 20. The return to Mountain View will supposedly give the company a bigger space to show off its self-driving car. In addition to the car, Google is also expected to unveil a new Android version dubbed as Android N, as well as updates on other Google products and projects.
If not in May, a different set of speculations say new Nexus devices could release in October. The rumored devices, dubbed T55 and T50 ,will reportedly be manufactured by HTC. The T55 will supposedly come with a 5-inch screen, while the T50 will have a 5.5-inch display. Both devices will run Android N.
Needless to say, readers should take these rumored information with a grain of salt.
