Google Nexus 5X News: Launch Date Set to End of September
Google has two new Nexus smartphones coming up this year with the LG Nexus 5X due to be unveiled before the end of this month.
After months of leaked information and images surrounding Google's upcoming LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6, news has emerged the first smartphone will be officially introduced by September 29.
The LG Nexus 5 (2015), also dubbed the LG Nexus 5X, will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow when Google takes the lid off the handset two weeks from now.
Preceded by the Nexus 4 in 2012, the Nexus 5 in 2013, and the Nexus 6 in 2014, the LG Nexus 5X is LG's second outing with a Google Nexus smartphone.
With months of rumors surrounding the handset's specifications, as well as several leaked renders and photos of the device, it has been speculated the LG Nexus 5X will come in a 5.2-inch full HD P-OLED touchscreen over a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset. Supported by 3GB of DDR3 RAM, it will offer up to 64GB of internal storage, all running on a 2,700mAh battery.
The smartphone will feature front-facing speakers, and a fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device, and sport a 13MP main camera, as well as a 4MP selfie shooter. It has been speculated the LG Nexus 5X will be equipped with a USB Type C port with QuickCharge 2.0, and come in a metal design with an aluminum frame, chamfered edges, and a plastic back cover.
Measuring 146.9mm x 72.9mm x 9.8mm, the LG Nexus 5X will have a MediaTek connectivity chipset installed, and a power button located at the rear.
While the phone's shipping date has yet to be announced, it has been speculated the LG Nexus 5X will be available for preorder two to three weeks after Google's September 29 event, which puts it at between October 13 to 20.
