Google Nexus 8, 9 Release Date Unknown, HTC Collaboration Unconfirmed
Google's next tablet, the Nexus 8, is rumored to be available on the market sometime in October, but with details scarce and no confirmed manufacturer, the date is highly unlikely. Still, Google might make an announcement sometime in the future before the year ends.
There are reports that indicate the Nexus 8 won't be called so, and instead would be called the Nexus 9. The tablet is believed to be a collaboration with HTC but neither Google nor the Chinese tech company has made any announcements about a Nexus tablet.
The Nexus 8/Nexus 9 is rumored to get an 8.9-inch display with an unknown resolution. There are speculations that it will get a 2560 x 1440 resolution display or a higher 2560 x 1600 resolution display. With such a big screen, it wouldn't hurt to go with the higher resolution for a sharper display.
The chipset will be a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Denver processor, will get 4GB of RAM across the 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants and an 8-megapixel camera.
As for the operating system, it would either have the Android KitKat 4.4.4 or the newer and still unreleased Andriod L. A confirmed report on which operating system the Nexus 8/Nexus 9 will operate would hint at the possible released date of the tablet.
Seeing as how the Android L (or Android 5.0) still hasn't hit the Android market yet, a Nexus 8/Nexus 9 running it would most likely have a release after the release of the Android L.
