Google Pixel 2 Specs, Release Date: New Leak Reveals Chunky Bezels for Standard Model

If a brand-new leak is anything to go by, the standard Google Pixel 2 is not getting rid of its bezels.

Slash Leaks recently shared an image showing purported screen protectors for the upcoming flagships and they hint at very different designs for the flagship models.

Based on the leak, the smaller Google Pixel 2, which is being made by HTC, is getting stocky bezels. The screen protector hints of thick sides, forehead and chin, where stereo speakers are situated.

On the other hand, the Google Pixel 2 XL, which LG is in charge of, has way thinner bezels reminiscent of the design of the LG G6, which served as this year's first bezel-less flagship.

GSM Arena believes that the difference in design has to do with who is manufacturing them. HTC, as users know, is yet to come out with a bezel-less flagship with the HTC U11 compensating with the Edge Sense squeeze feature for its "retro" look.

Apart from the appearance, users can also tell the Google Pixel 2 models apart by checking the display size and the battery they are packing.

It is rumored that the standard version will come with a full high-definition (HD) screen and 2,700 mAh battery while the XL iteration will reportedly boast a 6-inch Quad JD FullVision panel and a bigger 3,520 mAh battery.

For the rest, the Google Pixel 2 and its bigger sibling will share including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood, 64 to 128 GB storage options, IP67 certification rating and, what is imagined will be a disappointment to many, a single rear camera setup.

While the original Google Pixel duo were praised for the excellent imaging capabilities, users were hoping the company will bring things to the next level by joining the dual camera trend with its next-generation flagships.

It turns out this will not be the case for the Google Pixel 2 units, which are expected to arrive this October.
