Google Pixel 3 Release Date, Specs News: Flagship Will Include 3 Versions, First Details Emerge

Now that the Google Pixel 2 duo has arrived, talks about their successor Google Pixel 3.

According to Droid Life, Google is working on three versions of their next-generation flagships and that the codenames are albacore, blueline and crosshatch, which was referenced in an AOSP listing for the upcoming handsets.

Google always used names of fishes as codenames for their upcoming Pixel devices and it looks like the company is continuing the tradition.

However, they appear to be making the naming scheme much easier, at least when it comes to keeping details about the offerings secret since Google can simply reference them as A, B and C.

With regard to the makings of the Google Pixel 3 trio, the abovementioned publication reports that two are considered "premium" while the last one is described as high end. There is no word yet on what the differences will be.

Interestingly, there is also a mention of another device with the codename wahoo, which is also a name for another fish. However, it is not expected to be part of the Google Pixel 3 lineup, but only some sort of "leftover" from the current series.

There is no word yet with regards to the specs and features of the next-generation Google Pixel handsets though. After all, it is too early in the development process since the devices are still a year away from their launch.

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are now available. Google changed things up this year as the changes do not only include the features but also the design.

The bigger version has an all-front bezel-less design while the former comes with a traditional look, which is why the former is a much bigger hit than the latter. However, both devices have amazing cameras, which are considered the crown jewels of the smartphones.
