Google To Livestream Republican Convention Despite Protests

Activist groups are primarily in opposition of the leading Republican nominee, Trump, who has been making controversial comments about various ethnic groups and women. Mary Alice Crim of the Free Press Action Fund said, "We want Google to pull all of their support for a Trump-led Republican national convention. We're asking for that to be immediate, and we do hope after today's petition delivery [the company] will talk with us."

Google did not follow other companies like Coca-Cola who said that they were not contributing as much to the convention this year compared to 2012 for fear of "public backlash." The Fortune report however cited that if Google were to pull out as livestream provider, this would not give millions of citizens a chance to take part in the democratic process just because they will not be able to watch the convention.
