Google's latest flagship smartphones are named Nexus 5x and 6P

The month of September is almost running out and it could only mean one thing for Google—the day of unveiling is approaching. For the past few months, Google has been linked many times to reports about their rumored flagship smartphones, the Nexus 5 (2015) and Nexus 6 (2015). And with an upcoming event scheduled on Sept. 29, the giant company is expected to introduce to the public the said devices.

But even before the day of the event, an update regarding the devices have emerged all over the web lately. According to Tech Times, Android news website Droid Life claimed that the upcoming Nexus devices will be called the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. The site mentioned that the rumored named 5X has been known for a while but the name 6P is a new information told by a reliable source. The Nexus 5X is made by LG while the Nexus 6P is manufactured by Huawei.

The source went on to say that there is still a chance that the names will be changed. But if ever it does change, they will be very surprised. Droid Life was also the same source that revealed the codenames of the two devices which are bullhead and angler. It Pro mentioned that the new naming convention is presently not known but the site has come up with speculations. One is that Google is imitating Apple's iPhone's update schedule. But due to the fact that both phones are new models, such theory wouldn't be possible. Another speculation of the site says, "Google is addressing one of the Nexus range's principal problems, in the form of its highly ambiguous naming convention." The retained name of Nexus 5 that initially launched in 2013 creates confusion to potential customers.
