GoPro Hero 3+ vs. GoPro Hero 4: Comparison Between 2 of the Newest Actioncams From GoPro

Sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers look to one company when seeking high performance actioncams—GoPro. Tourists and professional photographers also love the cameras from GoPro because all of their products capture excellent quality video recordings at a fraction of the price of a professional camera.

Recently, the company has updated its range of actioncams with new models that include improved video recording or a built-in touch screen. Among the most talked about additions to the GoPro range is the GoPro Hero 3+ and the GoPro Hero 4.

Dimensions and Weight:
The GoPro Hero 3+ is very similar to its predecessor, the GoPro 3, with some slight changes. Its dimensions measure 41mm x 59mm x 21/30 mm and weighs 74 grams for the camera only, and 136 grams with housing.

The GoPro Hero 4 has the same dimensions as the Hero 3+, but it weighs a bit more at 88 grams for the camera only, and 152 grams with housing.

HD Recording Capability:
The Hero 4 beats other GoPro cameras when it comes to high definition video recording. In 1080p it can shoot at frame rates up to 120 fps, while the Hero 3+ can shoot at 1080p at frame rates of 60/50 fps.

Audio:
Though all GoPro cameras have built in mono microphones, the Hero 4 has the advantage over the other actioncams as it can deliver almost double the range of its predecessors.

Built in LCD Touch Screen:
The Hero 4 Silver is the only camera among the GoPro line to feature a built-in touch screen viewfinder. Meanwhile, the Hero 3+ needs the LCD Touch Bac Pac attached to it for users to enjoy the same convenience.

Price:
The Hero 3+ starts at $300 to $350, while the Hero 4 starts at $400 to $500.
