GoPro Hero 5 Latest News, Review and Features: 4K Resolution, Advanced Video Stabilization and Longer Battery Life Among Highlights of New Action Cam
The newly released GoPro Hero 5 Session and Black are bound to help the GoPro company get back on its track after shares fell significantly. With its amazing new features, GoPro Hero 5 is poised to do just that.
Resolution
Rumors once predicted that the GoPro Hero 5 will have 8K resolution. It turned out that GoPro found no need to go to that next level, especially since 4K is a relatively new feature that could still be utilized for a bit more time.
GoPro Hero 5 Black has 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, but could not pair it up with 60 frames per second. The difference between 30 and 60 fps is quite obvious, and for now, GoPro can only do higher than 30 fps for lower resolutions.
Usability
Earlier versions of GoPro aren't as user-friendly as people wanted them to be. The company listened to these grievances and made GoPro Hero 5 Black the most user-friendly among GoPro action cameras so far.
The latest GoPro Hero has voice control functions and touch screen for easy navigation. Voice control is a fun and convenient way of using the action camera. For example, you can say "GoPro, turn on," which boots up the GoPro Hero 5. Other voice commands prompt the action camera to take a picture, record a video, or do the former while doing the latter.
One of the most thoughtful features of the GoPro Hero 5 is the ability to set the accent of your voice commands, so that your action camera will understand what you're saying without the inflection barrier.
The touchscreen replaced the 3 buttons which have been describe by some as being awkward or tricky to use. The touchscreen contains settings for frame rate, resolution and seconds view. You can swipe the screen to bring up other useful functions and to view your captured photos and videos.
Advanced video stabilization
One of the best additions to the GoPro Hero 5 is advanced video stabilization, which makes your videos look smooth even if you're not using any pivoted support, also known as gimbals.
Battery Life
According to Sean O'Kane of the Verge, the GoPro Hero 5 black "really did seem like the battery was better, especially considering it now has a screen." The chips used in the GoPro Hero 5 are more efficient, allowing the device to use up much less power from the battery.
Other new features
Both the GoPro Hero 5 Black and Session are waterproof by up to 10 meters deep, has timelapse and burst functionalities. One difference between Black and Session is that the latter doesn't have an LCD screen.
